Meade ED Apochromatic Objective Lenses: The objective lenses included with Meade ED apochromatic refractors are made at the Meade Irvine facility and utilize the highest-grade optical glasses available; they are free of striae and other imperfections that can degrade optical performance. Each lens is individually manufactured, pitch-polished, and hand-figured by a master optician to reach diffraction-limited optical performance. Prior to being mounted in its machined cell, every lens is tested on a double-pass laser autocollimator an average of more than a dozen times at various stages of the production process.
