In 2002 the commercial vehicle division of the DaimlerChrysler Schweiz AG, official truck sponsor of the SAUBER-PETRONAS F1 team, started a campaign with the Mercedes-Benz Actros. The purpose of the operation was to publicise the sponsorship by the Mercedes-Benz Truck Division of the SAUBER-PETRONAS F1 team. In addition the plan was to link the Actros product with the prestige image and level of awareness of the SAUBER-PETRONAS F1 team and to promote interest in trials by means of a competition. To achieve this, in collaboration with the Sauber Team from Hinwil, fifteen of the Actros model were made up in the same design as the SAUBER-PETRONAS C21 from the 2001 season. These 15 trucks were available for trials and were used at exhibitions and press events within the framework of this Actros SAUBER-PETRONAS promotion that was to last until November 2002. Model details: Detailed chassis, 4 wheel chassis, Steerable front axle, Detailed suspension, Detailed multi-part Diesel engine, Authentic wheel rims, Rubber tyres, Separate exhaust assembly, Detailed driver's cab with internal fittings, and True-to-original decals with the special Actros SAUBER-PETRONAS - C21 design used for the 2002 campaign.
