The new Renault Magnum that came out in 2001 was the fourth Magnum, to be marketed by the French truck manufacturer since the beginning of the nineties. The current tractor was given a comprehensive face-lift. This is clearly evident from the trapezoid headlamps and the attractive V-shaped radiator grille that gives the truck its characteristic appearance - the striking front section that provides effective cooling for the redesigned engine. The Magnum is driven by the water-cooled 6-cylinders in-line engine known as the E-Tech, made by the US subsidiary Mack, and is specifically designed for minimum consumption. The most powerful version of the engine, the 480 bhp, 12 litre, turbocharged Euro-3 type, offers, in addition to flexibility, the capacity to eat up gradients even at low speeds. There is a choice between a manual gearbox and the 50 kg, lighter, semi-automatic AS-Tronic, that makes the clutch pedal superfluous, thus contributing to the driver's comfort by leaving him just the gear shift to deal with. Outstanding features are the electronically controlled disc brakes all round, which compensates for wear on the break linings and improves the overall performance of the brakes. The cab, which can be tipped forward by almost 90? for servicing, has also been improved. All in all this is a truck that clearly belongs in the top class of heavy lorries and bears comparison with the MAN TG-A or the DAF 95 XF. Model length 9.8 inches. Glue and paint are required, and are sold separately.Models * Revell AG Germany 1/24 Renault Magnum 480 - RVL 07532 - Revell-Monogram
