Black Stallion - Family
Great family entertainment, this is a film about the adventures of a young boy and his love for a black, Arabian stallion. When the two are the only survivors of a terrible shipwreck, they form an unbreakable bond that leads them into training for a racing championship. A very solid performance by Rooney as the horse trainer helps elevate matters. Academy Award Nominations: Best Supporting Actor--Mickey Rooney, Best Film Editing. Based on Walter Farley's classic novel of the same name.
