Based on Richard Dougherty's novel The Commissioner. This film inspired the Madigan TV series in 1972 starring Richard Widmark as Sergeant Dan Madigan. It ran as part of the NBC Wednesday Mystery Movie, along with Banacek and Cool Million. Shot on location in New York City in Techniscope. Color by Technicolor.
